Take your idea from a initial ideas to first draft in our 6-week course, taught by Instructor Shenovia Large (A BLACK LADY SKETCH SHOW, GRAND CREW). Learn what makes a strong premise, how to create comedic characters, and structure your comedy pilot in a supportive environment. You'll give and receive feedback with peers and break down the daunting writing process into weekly goals. If you complete all assignments, you’ll finish the class with a completed script.
You’ll also have the opportunity to ask candid questions about the industry like: how to get your first job, finding your unique voice as a writer, and dealing with managers and agents — all from a working writer!
Class dates are as follows: (All dates are Saturdays, from 11AM-1PM PST)

There is no class November 1st, so that you can have a week of extra writing time.
One scholarship spot is available for someone in need. Applicants send a brief, 1-2 paragraph statement explaining your background and why you’d like to participate to info@inthecutla.org by September 20, 2025.
